In fact, facelifts are the third most popular cosmetic surgery and third in popularity amongst women. More men are also opting to have facelifts.

Factors Affecting the Cost of a Facelift Procedure
There are several factors that determine the cost of a facelift.
- Surgical consultation fee
This is important for the surgeon and the client. The client has a chance to meet and ask questions about the surgeon’s expertise, the procedure, to discuss the ultimate goals of the surgery and to build a rapport and trust with the surgeon.

The surgeon can determine whether the client is a suitable candidate for the procedure or perhaps, there is a better alternative to achieving the client’s goals. The health history is reviewed and any risks or benefits that are associated with the surgery so the client can make an informed decision.
- Surgeon’s fee
This is the amount the surgeon will be paid once the procedure has been completed.
- Anesthesia fee
This is the amount the anesthesiologist will be paid to administer the anesthetic and monitor the patient during surgery.
- Facility/hospital fee
This is the cost that the facility or hospital is due for use of the premises, equipment, materials etc.
- Medical tests
Prior to surgery, it is common for doctors to ask you to have some bloodwork or other tests done to ensure your well-being.

- Post-surgery clothing
After surgery, you may be asked to wear certain types of compression garments to help reduce swelling and help you in the recovery phase.
- Prescriptions
It is common for your doctor to prescribe medications for pain relief as well as special ointments or creams, as they deem necessary.
Since the use and requirement of each of these factors is unique, you find a change in costs of face lifts.
Types of Face Lifts and their Costs in Canada
Mini facelifts reduce or eliminate the appearance of loose skin around the lower cheeks (jowls). The surgeon makes small incisions that are hidden in the hair line to remove excess skin and smooth the skin. These facelifts cost between $9,000-$17,000 in Canada.
Deep plane or vertical facelifts involve the smoothening and tightening the skin at the base of the chin and neck. This facelift is also a lower facelift as it targets the lower area of the face. In Canada, the deep plane facelift cost ranges from $20,000-$30,000.
Ponytail facelifts refers to procedures that “lift” the facial skin and mimics the appearance of wearing hair in a high ponytail. The skin of the scalp, forehead, cheeks, and eyebrows are pulled upwards. The ponytail facelift cost is upwards of $10,000 in Canada.
What is included in the Price of a Face Lift Procedure?
The facelift cost encompasses the fee for the surgeon, anesthesia, and facility. With respect to the procedure, generally, it includes removing or sculpting the fat in the face while the tissues and muscles of the face are tightened. The skin is “lifted” or elevated and excess skin is removed.
