All You Need to Know About Arm Lift

Arm lift surgery is also known as brachioplasty. In this cosmetic procedure, fat and excess skin is removed from the underside of your upper arm to give it a more contoured and toned appearance.

As the name suggests, a mini arm lift removes a minimal amount of skin and fat in the arm region, usually the axilla (arm pit). The scar is less visible as it is hidden in the underarm area.

Arm lifts or brachioplasty is an excellent option to eliminate the look and feel of saggy arms.

Generally, arm lifts last in the long-term. However, it is important to note that with age and weight fluctuations loss of firmness and sagginess can recur.

Brachioplasty is a safe surgery, but as with any surgeries, your doctor will discuss your overall health, risks, and benefits of the procedure during your initial consultation.

After surgery, you may experience some pain or discomfort for a few days as well as swelling and bruising.

The initial discomfort after surgery will dissipate within a few days. However, general soreness will likely take about 1-2 weeks to disappear and for your arms to heal.

The sutures or stitches that are used to close the incisions when brachioplasty is performed are usually resorbed by your body within 2 weeks. If non-resorbable sutures are used, your doctor will remove them in 1-2 weeks post-surgery.

Arm lifts have a good track record. They are common cosmetic procedures.

The results after an arm lift are visible immediately after the procedure. However, as the swelling subsides over the following 6 weeks, there will be improvements in the area while the skin on the arms tightens over time.

Your surgeon will give you full instructions on how to sleep and what to do after surgery. However, usually, it is recommended that you sleep on your back with your elbows slightly bent and elevated with some pillows.

This will be outlined in your post-operative instructions. Usually, it is better to limit your arm movement right after surgery and for the few days following surgery to allow for proper healing of the incision.
