Limitless Laser Hair Removal

How can Laser Hair Removal enhance your life

Laser technology emits light of varying frequencies. The light targets pigment —melanin —in the hair. Light energy is then converted to heat, which travels to the follicles — the hair-producing sacs — which lie below the skin. The heat damages the hair follicles, thereby slowing-down and eventually inhibiting hair regrowth. Laser hair removal is regarded industry-wide as the most effective method of permanent hair removal.

Laser hair removal is ideal for all sexes. It’s effective for excess facial, underarm, legs, bikini area and more. For men, this approach can help define the beard, neck and chest hair, as well as eliminate hair on the back and other regions. Laser hair removal is also an ideal option for transgender clients.

2-4 weeks before your appointment – do not tan, wax, thread or tweeze.

12-24 hours before your appointment — shave all areas to be treated.

The day of your appointment — remove all makeup, lotion, and deodorant.

Apply any topical anesthetic one to one-and-a-half hours prior, and then cover with plastic wrap to prevent oxidization or removal.

Apply a cold compress to the treated area.

Apply a minimum SPF-30 sunscreen (UVA/UVB) to protect against sun exposure for a minimum of one week. Do not use tanning beds or expose unprotected skin to sun between treatments.

Apply makeup and deodorant with caution. Spot-test all products for 12-24 hours before full application.

Do not exercise; take hot showers or use hot tubs or saunas for 12-48 hours.

Note that treated hair can take one to two weeks to be released from the body.

Feel free to shave between treatments. Do not wax, thread, tweeze, or use depilatory products—this will remove the hair follicles, making it impossible to remove the hair with laser.

All You Need to Know About Laser Hair Removal

Lasers send waves of safe and effective light energy into hair follicles. The light energy converts to heat which damages the follicles. The resulting damage to the follicles inhibits hair growth. After a few weeks, the targeted hairs eventually shed away on their own.

As hair grows back, it becomes finer and lighter. With each subsequent treatment, less hair grows back. Eventually, the hair completely stops growing back. Laser hair removal is effective in almost all areas.

Yes, the procedure is safe when performed by certified and experienced laser technicians, with the proper equipment. At The Best You, we minimize your risk of complications, by first discussing your health and complete medical history before we perform any procedure.  Also, all lasers at The Best You are approved by Health Canada.

Lasers emit light of a specific frequency, which becomes heat as it targets the pigment (melanin) in the hair, and travels to its follicle. This heat damages the hair follicle and inhibits regrowth. During the process, the pulsating lasers produce a sensation often compared to being snapped with a rubber band. Pain varies from client to client. Any discomfort is temporary, and can be minimized with a variety of approaches.

Consult our expert team of aestheticians for more information on pain management during laser hair removal.

The best results for laser hair removal involves hair with pigment. Light blond, red and grey hair are difficult to treat because they have less pigment, which the laser targets. Ideal candidates have darker hair and lighter skin tone. The Best You has state-of-the-art technology which can treat all skin tones. (Fitzpatrick I-VI).

Almost all areas of the body can be treated. The most popular areas for laser hair removal include the face, bikini, under-arms, legs and back.

The treated hair is gone forever! Most of our clients see an impressive 80-99% reduction of hair growth in the treated areas within 7-10 sessions. Hormones, pregnancy and the odd stubborn hair that just won’t quit make our Limitless Package the ideal choice for hair removal.  With this package, you’ll never need to purchase additional sessions, or pay any touch-up fees.

The length of a session depends on the size of the area to be treated. The upper lip can take as little as 10 seconds, while a larger area — such as legs — could take 60-90 minutes to treat. You can also treat multiple areas in one session.

Three weeks before your first session, stop waxing and plucking, and start shaving. Also, for the best and safest results, avoid sun exposure for two weeks prior to your appointment. Also, apply sunscreen throughout the entire course of your treatments.

Every clinic will tell you their lasers are the best. In the end, having multiple lasers gives us multiple options to address your specific needs for hair removal. Also, for best results, we sometimes need to use more than one type of laser to effectively treat certain areas of the body.

At The Best You, we have lasers that work very well on darker skin tones. These lasers emit energy with longer wavelengths that penetrate past the pigment in the skin, to the pigment in the hair follicle (Nd-YAG). We also have lasers that works well on patients with light to medium-coloured skin.

At The Best You, our top priority is the health and wellbeing of both mother and unborn child. For this reason, we do not treat pregnant patients.

Pregnant women experience many hormonal changes that may involve undesirable hair growth and skin pigmentation. Our team of professionals at The Best You will be happy to treat your concerns after the safe arrival of your baby.

Yes, we book a complimentary consultation for you with one of our certified laser technicians, before we schedule any treatments. This is without exception and for your own protection. At this time, we ask you to share any past experiences you’ve had with laser hair removal. You’ll also be asked about any medications and natural health products you use, and of any underlying medical conditions you have. These are critical details we must consider when we customize your laser hair-removal treatments.

During your consultation, we will perform a patch test to determine your personal settings, rule out any adverse reactions, and let you experience a bit of the process. Finally, we’ll also address any questions and concerns you may have. At The Best You, we want you to be well informed and feel comfortable with the process, our clinic and your technician before we proceed with the treatments.

Certain medical conditions — including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hidradenitis suppurativa, perianal abcess— can be highly treatable with laser hair removal.  Transgender  patients are also good candidates for this approach to permanent hair removal.

To determine if this is the best option for you, book a consultation with one of our team members today!
